Domarin is a project manager coordinating efforts across multidisciplinary teams towards building the open infrastructure investigating protein dynamics. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Whittier College and her Ph.D. in Chemistry at UC Irvine, understanding human eye lens proteins and the mechanism of interaction towards cataract formation. She went on to do a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NIH) investigating the enzymes participating in the transfer of ubiquitin within the endoplasmic reticulum associated degradation (ERAD) pathway. Before joining Astera, she was the program manager at Eat JUST, Inc. using plant proteins as sustainable food sources as well as Animate Biosciences, Inc., assisting in the discovery of AI-designed peptide therapeutics with anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory activity.
