Terms & Conditions

Policy

These terms govern your use of prismscience.org and everything served from it: the site itself, the documentation, the open datasets and the software we publish alongside them. Using the site means you accept them.
We may revise these terms as the work changes. A revision applies from the day it is published, and the date at the foot of the page is the one that counts.
If any single clause turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of these terms stand on their own.

Use of the site

You may read, quote and link to anything published here. You may run our published software and use our datasets in your own research, subject to the licence shipped with each one.
  • Do not attempt to gain access to systems or data that are not published.
  • Do not scrape the site in a way that degrades it for anybody else; the datasets are downloadable in bulk precisely so you do not have to.
  • Do not present our work as your own, or imply that Prism endorses yours.
We may suspend access where use of the site threatens its availability or the integrity of the data behind it.

Responsibility

The science published here is a research output, not a clinical or regulatory one. Models, structures and predictions are offered as they stand, with the caveats stated beside them, and they should be read as a contribution to an argument rather than as a settled answer.
Prism gives no warranty that the site will be available without interruption, that the datasets are free of error, or that any result derived from them is fit for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on them.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Intellectual property

The Prism name, logo and site design are ours. The written content is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 unless a page says otherwise, so you are free to reuse it with credit.
Published software carries its own licence in its repository, and that licence governs. Datasets carry a licence file in the same way. Where the two disagree with this page, the licence wins.
Third-party material reproduced here remains the property of its owner and is used with permission or under fair dealing.

General

How we handle personal data is set out in full in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. Reading one without the other gives you half the picture.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California. Any legal action or proceeding concerning these terms shall be brought exclusively in a court of competent jurisdiction sitting in Alameda County, California, United States.
